Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov was named the winner of the Frank J. Selke Trophy for the second time in his career. The award is presented annually to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game as voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Brakov won 57.3 percent of the 1,100 faceoffs he took, finished with a plus-33 rating, and was second among the team’s forwards in ice time (19:38).

According to NHL EDGE tracking data, the puck was in the offensive zone for 46.3 percent of the time and in the defensive zone for just 35.3 percent of the time Barkov was on the ice at even strength, with both of those numbers ranking in the 97th percentile among NHL skaters.

Teammate Sam Reinhart finished fourth in the voting behind Barkov, Carolina’s Jordan Staal and Toronto’s Auston Matthews.

Oilers 5, Canucks 1

The Edmonton Oilers extended its second round series to a seventh game with a dominating 5-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks in Game 6 at Rogers Place. Evan Bouchard (1G/2A), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (1/2A), and Connor McDavid (3A) each racked up 3 points in the victory. Zach Hyman and Dylan Holloway also scored for the Oilers, who got 15 saves from Stuart Skinner. Nils Hoglander scored, and Arturs Silovs made 22 saves for the Canucks. Pacific Division-winning Vancouver will host Game 7 on Monday at 9 p.m. (ESPN).

Thunder 2, Everblades 0

The Florida Everblades were unable to light the lamp, despite putting 41 shots on goal, and dropped a 2-0 decision to the Adirondack Thunder in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Final at Cool Insuring Arena in Glen Falls, NY. The best-of-seven series is tied one game apiece, as the third-round series in the ECHL’s Kelly Cup Playoffs shifts to Hertz Arena in Estero, FL. Game 3 will take place on Wednesday.
