After having their comeback bid fall short in Game 5, the Florida Panthers are scheduled to leave for Edmonton at 1 p.m. this afternoon. The Cats have two more shots at winning the Stanley Cup. If they don’t do it Friday night, the series will return to Sunrise for Game 7 on Monday.

While the Panthers and Oilers are still playing hockey, the rest of the league is working towards the 2024-25 season.

The New Jersey Devils acquired goaltender, and former Panther, Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames for defenseman Kevin Bahl and a first-round pick (Top-10 protected) in the 2025 Entry Draft. Calgary will retain 31.25% of Markstrom’s remaining salary.

Troublesome forward Pierre-Luc Dubois is heading to the Washington Capitals after the Los Angeles Kings swapped him straight-up for goalie Darcy Kuemper. This will be Dubois’ fourth NHL team since he was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2016.

The San Jose Sharks added two veteran forwards to its rebuilding roster yesterday. San Jose claimed Barclay Goodrow off waivers from the New York Rangers, and then traded a fourth-round pick in next week’s draft to the Dallas Stars for Ty Dellandrea.

Defenseman Filip Hronek inked an eight-year extension with an average annual value of $7.25 million with the Vancouver Canucks. Hronek posted a career-high 48 points (5G/43A) in 81 regular season games for the Canucks last season.
