One last day of rest before the Florida Panthers face the Edmonton Oilers in the biggest game in the history of the franchise. Either the Panthers will hoist the Stanley Cup on Monday night at Amerant Bank Arena or go down as the one of, if not the biggest chokers (fairly or unfairly) in professional sports. There is no in between.

Game 7 will mark the first time the Cats have faced elimnation in these playoffs. The Oilers are 5-0 with their playoff life on the line, winning the last two games of the second round against Vancouver and three straight against the Panthers.

Edmonton’s longest winning streak during the playoffs is three games. Let’s keep it at that…

Calder Cup

In the AHL, Jimmy Huntington scored his second goal of the game with 3:15 remaining in regulation to give the Hershey Bears a 3-2 comeback win over the Coachella Valley Firebirds in Game 5 at Acrisure Arena. The Bears will win return home with a three games to two lead in the series as they try to win a second straight Calder Cup over the Firebirds. Former Panther prospect Chase Priskie assisted on Hardy Häman Aktell’s game-tying goal 8:26 into the third, just 3:43 after Ryan Winteron gave Coachella Valley a 2-1 lead. Hunter Shepard made 24 saves to get the win over another former Panther, Chris Driedger.

Try to enjoy your Sunday, folks, as tomorrow night will either bring extreme jubilation or punishing pain.
